Ilbery, London, No. 6407, circa 1830.Very fine 18 ct. gold and painted enamel, pearl-set centre seconds watch with special escapement, made for the Chinese market.

Two-body, back cover decorated with a very finely painted central flower bouquet in the centre, border with a champlevé enamel wreath of grape leaves and fruits inlaid with half-pearls, all on translucent scarlet enamel over engine-turned ground, the bezels, pendant and bow set with half-pearls, gold, hinged and engraved, spring-loaded cuvette mounted on the movement ring. D. White enamel, Roman hour chapter, outer minute and fifth-second divisions, fifteen-minute Arabic numerals. Gold 'hearthands. M. 49.5 mm o, gilt brass 'Chinese' calibre, fully engraved, free-standing barrel, ruby duplex escapement, uncut three-arm bimetallic balance withthree brass counterweights covered with steel plates and three mean steel screws, blued-steel balance,diamond endstone.Signed on the movement.Diam. 59 mm.
