Notes

Vaucher Charles-Henri, Fleuriernot to be confused with the maison Vaucher frères, the firm established by Charles-Henri Vaucher was founded in the village of Fleurier, in the house that later became the 'Hotel de Ville'. In 1838 Vaucher sent a number of watches, some enamelled, to Canton, thereby drawing the attention of Louis Bovet who mentioned them in a letter to his uncle Edouard. Charles-Henri Vaucher did not encounter success in China, however, having started at a time of political crisis, and soon stopped production. Te company had a branch in London, and also dealt in the commerce of iron; later it moved to Trévise.
