Swiss, No. 1551, circa 1825.Very fine 18 ct. gold and enamel pearl-set, two-train, hour-striking musical watch with quarter repeating and centre seconds, made for the Chinese market.

Four-body, 'Empire', back cover with very finely painted flower bouquet on a pink ground, the bezel edges in champlevé enamel with red, blue, and gold foliate decoration on an azure ground, the bezels, band, bow and pendant set with half pearls between two translucent red enamel frames, gold hinged cuvette. D. White enamel, radial Roman chapters, outer minute ring and 15 minute Arabic numerals. Gold 'spoon' hands. M. 53.1 mm o, gilt brass full plate, fixed barrel, cylinder escapement, gold thee-arm balance, flat balance spring, music by a revolving disc with pins on both sides, playing on 19 tuned teeth arranged in a fan shape, slide for music on demand at 8 o'clock, silent/music lever protruding through the edge of the cuvette, repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant.Movement stamped 1551 under the dial.Diam. 61 mm.
