Unsigned, Geneva, No. 594, circa 1860.Fine and unusual 18 ct. gold and enamel, diamond- and ruby-set form brooch in the shape of a lady's purse fitted with a watch, in original fitted box.
C. Brooch: Five-body, designed as a purse with grill-like front, top hinged to open the purse, revealing the watch inside. The watch is removable and is mounted behind a hinged, engraved bezel. The purse hangs from a gold strap which is held by a gold hand finished by a white-enamel and ruby-set cuff, the bottom of the purse finished with three gold tassels. Watch case: four-body, 'demi-bassine', the back cover with translucent, dark blue enamel over spiral engine-turning centred with a diamond-et flower stem. D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute divisions, gold hinged cuvette. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 21.9 mm o, bar calibre, 10 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain gilt three-arm balance, blued-steel flat spring, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate.Diam. Watch 25 mm. Purse 12 cm.
