The Straw HatUnsigned, Geneva, circa 1810.Amusing and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel pearl-set form watch with concealed dial, designed as a straw hat.

Two-body, 'fermée' type, spring-loaded front cover revealing the dial, entirely painted on enamel, the yellow straw hat decorated with a rose and a mauve ribbon which passes through the pearl-set brim to encircle the loins of Cupid. The back similarly painted to show the back of the hat, a pair of doves replacing Cupid, small ring pendant. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute ring. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 22 mm o, hinged, verge escapement, plain brass balance, continental coc, rack and pinion regulator with a silver plate.Dim. 45 x 32 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, page 420-421.
