Boating PartyJaquet-Droz, London, No. 1466, circa 1785.Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold, ivory and enamel pump wound watch with centre seconds and stop feature, made for the Chinese market.

Two-body, 'Louis XVI', spring-loaded, the back with a pierced and carved ivory oval plaque of a boating party, surrounded by small pearls, with a dark blue translucent enamel ground over guilloché, the front and back bezels foliate decorated, with small blue enamel flowers and green leaves bordered by a band of alternating pearls and rubies, gilded dust cap. D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute ring, half seconds divisions. Gold 'beetle and poker' hands. M. 38.5 mm o, hinged, gilt brss full plate with cylindrical columns, going barrel, cylinder escapement, brass escape wheel, plain three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, English style one-footed cock pierced and engraved with foliage and exotic bird, diamond endstone, pump-winding mechanism underthe dial.Signed on the movement.Diam. 50 mm.
