Jaquet-Droz et Leschot, London, circa 1785.Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel pearl-set self-winding pedometer watch with centre seconds and stop feature, made for the Chinese market.

C. Two-body, 'Louis XVI', the back with a painted on enamel lakeside scene with a vase of flowers in the foreground and a border of translucent red enamel over guilloché, the bezel in polychrome enamel with silver paillons, the front bezel pearl-set. D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute ring, quarter second divisions and fifteen minute Arabic figures. Gold skeleton 'cathedral' hands. M. 40.9 mm o, hinged, gilt brass three-quarter plate with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, cylinder esapement, brass escape wheel, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring, one-footed gilded cock pierced and engraved in asymmetrical scrolls and foliage, ruby endstone, crescent weight, self-winding, 'pedometer' movement with a mechanism blocking the weight when the watch is fully wound to prevent overwinding, two spring-loaded shock-absorbing winding weight, small stop lever at five o'clock to stop the watch in order to set it precisely.Signed on the oscillating weight.Diam. 49 mm.
