Attributable to Jaquet-Droz, Geneva, circa 1785.Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel musical repeating watch with centre seconds.

C. Two-body, back with sunburst engine-turning centred by a plain square reserve, originally probably covered with red enamel, bezels with enamelled foliage and flowers on a matted gold ground, edge of the front bezel set with pearls alternating with rubies, winding aperture on the back covered with a cabochon ruby set on a long pivoted lever with a turning knob at 6 o'clock, bezels pierced to let the sound escape. D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute dot divisions with 15-minute Arabicnumerals. Gold Breguet hands. M. 40.7 mm o, hinged, gilt brass back plate crescent-shaped to allow for the five bells, going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm brass balance, gilded single-footed cock pierced and engraved with asymmetrical foliage. Music on five bells with five hammers with adjustable screws for tuning, activated by depressing the pendant.Diam. 49 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, page 242-243.
