Interesting silvered and brass folding equinoctial sundial with geared minute ring.

Square brass plate, the corners engraved with cherub spandrels representing the winds, with folding plumb bob, inset magnetic compass adjustable for the magnetic deviation, silvered chapter-ring with folding latitude scale, the folding pin-hole gnomon attached to the crossbar, pierced with a beetle pattern hour pointer, with geared minute hand. Dished base now mounted in a painted card box. In reasonable condition. Dims. 69 x 69 mm. q 161 Unsigned, possibly French or Flemish, 2nd. half 18th. century.
