Anonymous, American, mid 19th. century. Lacquered brass universal equinoctial sun dial.

Shaped base plate with two spirit levels and three adjustable feet, the border engraved with the names and latitudes of six North American towns, silvered folding latitude scale and chapter-ring with springloaded pin gnomon. Some deterioration of the lacquer, but in good condition. Diam. 100 mm. approx.
