Hughes, London, No. 1520, circa 1765. Very fine 20 ct. gold and enamel, gem-set, pair cased, quarter repeating watch.

Outer double body, Louis XV, with ruby and emerald set bezel, the engraved back with translucent champleve, blue green and yellow flowers, a bird and a butterfly, outer champleve enamelled decoration in a Greek pattern. Inner double body, bassine, the back pierced and engraved with scrolls on the border and centered with a rosette. D. White enamel, with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel poker and beetle hands. M. GiIt brass, full plate, with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, English gilt brass cock. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 43 mm.
