Rare and fine silver pocket thermometer of Houriet type, giving the concordance between Centigrade and Fahrenheit degrees together with various unusual informations. Three body engine-turned case, forme quatre baguettes. White enamel dial with centigrade and outer Fahrenheit rings, very cold temperatures recorded in Paris in 1709, 1740, 1776 and 1788. Subsidiary indication of suitable temperatures for warm greenhouses, orangery, silkworm breeding, sick-person room. GiIt brass movement with a bimetallic blade driving the hands by means of a rack. Diam. 58 mm.
