Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1820. Rare and unusual, 18 ct. gold, quarter repeating watch with four automatons.

C. Three body Empire, with reeded band, the engine turned back with a small monogram en réserve. Hinged plain gilt brass cuvette. White enamel chapter ring with Breguet numerals (slightly restored. Gold spade hands. Glazed three coloured gold automaton scene applied on a blued steel ground. Driven by the repeating train on the top, a Punchinello suddenly appears to fight Father Time, while below, two cupids Jacks, strike hours and quarters on two bells. M. Frosted and gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock and polished steel end-piece. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 58 mm.
