Anonymous, Swiss, attributed to Jaquet-Droz, circa 1790. Rare and fine 18 ct. gold and enamel early independent dead center seconds watch with special escapement.
C. Double body, Directoire, bezels, and pendant with paillonné decoration over a blue enamelled ground ( slightly restored), the enamel back with a very fine painted bunch of flowers in a vase, with further paillonné floral decoration, over a lake side landscape. D. White enamel with Roman numerals (slightly restored). Gold skeletonized hands and counterpoised seconds hand. GiIt brass dust cap. M. Hinged, frosted and gilt, double train, the back plate with an applied gilt decorative plate, engraved with scrolls of foliage, two going barrels, wound separately, the going train with a virgule escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with a large single foot, matching and sunk in the decorative plate, diamond endstone. Independent jumping seconds train, with a boit on the dial rim. In good condition. Diam. 54 mm.
