Notes

Thomas Shepheard, London, recorded as freeman of the Clockmaker's Company in 1632. A dial configured for 6 hours has traditionally been associated with Italian watches and clocks, although in this case it seems to be more a question of the ratios used in the train. Clearly it allows for well spaced and therefore legible numerals.
