C. Double body, bassine, with split bezel, painted overall on enamel, the main scene depicting Athena and two Cupids ; she wears an armour and a helmet, her buckler is decorated with the heat of the Gorgone. The frieze on the band with alternate florets and four small landscapes after Gabriel Perelle's engravings, a farm-house with a tower, painted inside the case (very slightly restored around the pendant). Plain gold split bezel. The original gold pendant, being completed with an articulated bow. D. Enamel, with Roman numerals, the center painted with the portrait of Diane with her dog. M. GiIt brass full plate with pierced Egyptian pillars, four wheel train, fusee with original chain, verge escapement, plain three armed steel balance, English style gilt brass cock, pierced and engraved with scrolls and flowers. In good condition. Diam. 42 mm.

Notes

This watch is the second, actually known, signed and dated by this eminent maker, Master in 1675. Pupil of Pierre Huault lst, was also trained by François Legare and Pierre Royaume, associated goldsmiths. Pierre Huault, emigrated Huguenot, was coming from Blois where he was apprentice. He kept in Geneva part of the technic learned with his French Masters. He also developed Iater in Geneva a new pointillist painting technic which he has transmitted to his pupil.
