Estienne Ester, Geneva, circa 1660. Rare small silver-gilt and gold piqué pair-cased watch.

C. Outer, double body with giIt frame, leather covered with gold pin-work decoration, the back centred with a Count's coronet above a monogram VAS(?). Inner, double body with split bezel and loose-ring pendant. D. White enamel on copper, with Roman numerals, half and quarter divisions, the centre with a foliage motif. Single blued-steel tulip hand. M. Gilt-brass full plate with turned balluster pillars, fusee with gut, short train with verge escapement and plain two-arm steel balance. without spring. Florally pierced and engraved oval gilt brass cock secured by a screw. Worm-andwheel set-up with silver regulator disk (pointer lacking). Signed on the backplate. In good condition. Diam. 37 mm. .
