Ferdinand Berthoud à Paris No. 4470, circa 1795.

Unusual and very rare eight day going watch movement with 30 days Republican calendar. Large white enamel dial by Borel, with Roman numerals, outer Arabic calendar ring, subsidiary small sector for the regulator. Large gilt brass movement with large going barrel and inverted train of wheels, cylinder escapement with plain brass three armed balance set beneath the dial. Diam. 61 mm.

However not described in his books, this movement appears to be a laie attempt made by Ferdinand Berthoud, after he retired in his country house of Groslay, to produce eight day going slim watches.
