Very rare and important movement of a Montre à secondes à deux battements ou vibration, built on the principle, described in Ferdinand Berthoud: Essai sur l' Horlogerie, published in 1786, page 214 to 216, plate No. XXVII. Later specially made engine-turned case, forme quatre baguettes. Later white enamel dial with Roman numerals and inner seconds ring. Gilt brass full plate movement with fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, large plain brass three armed balance and gilt brass continental cock, flat balance spring and agate endstone. The movement can be stopped at will, by means of a small lever on the edge of the dial. Diam. 51 mm.
