Extremely rare and fine silver and gold experimental watch, with special escapement. Double body Empire case by Tavernier (Master mark), No. 2395) with gold rims, reeded band and engineturned back. GiIt brass hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds, as often on Iater Lepine's dials, "1" being rounded by a thin line. Very unusual gilt brass Lepine caliber with fusee and chain, maintaining power, free standing barrel, typical Robin's detent-lever escapement, plain brass three armed balance with ruby end-stone, flat balance spring, Breguet type bimetallic compensation curb. Diam. 58 mm.

Not recorded in A. Chapiro Jean-Antoine Lepine, Horloger (1720-1814), this watch appears to be unique in the work of Lepine, with such caliber and set with the escapement divided by Robert Robin in 1791.
