Three body mahogany box with external brass handles (now lacking), brass corners and mountings, glazed upper section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimballed suspension. Silverd dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and Up-and-Down scale. Brass spotted finished three quarter plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with maintaining power, the Earnshaw type spring detent escapement set in a smaller circular cage, two armed bimetallic compensation balance with cylindricall weights and timing screws, diamond end-stone, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial diam. 115 mm. Dim. 19x19x19 cm. D. Mc. Gregor, Greenock, No. 155, circa 1860.
