Fine and rare one day marine chronometer, sold on 25 Frimaire an XII (17 December 1803) for 2000 Francs to the French Marine. Bought back from the Marine Department and sold to Monsieur Reverdi. Three piece mahogany deck watch type box with brass bowl with screwed bezel. White enamel regulator dial with small Roman eccentric chapter for hours, outer Arabic minute ring on the border and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. GiIt brass full plate movement with conical pillars secured by nuts with polished steel washers, fusee with maintaining power, typical Louis Berthoud's pivoted detent escapement, cut bimetallic four armed compensation balance with four brass weights and timing screws typical of Berthoud's work. Free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial diam. 70 mm. Dim. 7,5x12x10 cm.
