Anonymous, France, circa 1808. Rare and fine ormolu and blackecl bronze hour and hait hour striking "pendule au negre", drawing patented on August 1808, entitled. "Le Matelot".

C. The movement is set on the cubical cotton bail, blacked bronze standing slave with enamelled eyes. The ormolu base with a central "bas relief" depicting cupids loading a vessel. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. GiIt bronze Directoire hands. M. Round in brass, of Paris type, with going barrels for both the going and the striking train, anchor escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. In good condition. Dim. 38 x 31 x 12 cm.
