SM (Sylvain Mairet), No. 114, Locle, Swiss, circa 1840. Rare and elegant 18 ct. gold watch with a regulator dial and a Reaumur thermometer.
C. Three body, forme quatre baguettes, engine-turned, "à grains d'orge", with the typical articulated pendant-bow, designed by Sylvain Mairet. Gold cuvette. D. silver engine-turned with a small Roman chapter on the Ieft, symmetrical Arabic minute ring on the right and Reaumur thermometer sector below. Blued steel counterpoised Breguet hands. M. Very slim, 18.5", gilt brass, Sylvain Mairet caliber, 12 jewels, with going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain gilt brass three arm balance, flat balance spring with Breguet bimetallic compensation curb on the index. Sylvain Mairet initiais beneath the dial on the plate. In very good condition. Diam. 47 mm.
