Czapek & Cie. , Genève, No 5553, circa 1852. Fine and important 18 ct. gold independant seconds keyless. Presentation watch, with hour and minute recorder, date and "diablotine" in original fitted box.
C. Engine turned the monogram and crown of Napoleon III engraved on the back. D. White enamel, small excentric chapter for hours and minutes, symetrical chapter for hour and minute recorder with Roman numerals + subsidiary seconds, "diablotine and date rings. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Gilt brass, double train, diferential winding, 23 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Very good condition. Diam. 49 mm. Following the expiration of the partnership contract between Czapek and Patek, in 1845, François Czapek continued in business in Geneva and adopted for some of his work, the keyless winding systems invented h Adrien Philippe. This watch is complicated by any standards for the period. Czapek was the watchmaker to the Prince Napoleon.
