Notes

Eight day going watches from the XVIIth century are particularly rare. This example has evidently been in France for some time during the XVIIIth century, as a neat steel endpiece, as introduced by Julien Le Roy, has been added and a concealed inspection slot has been pierced to assess the deptbing of the escapement, a common feature on the continent.
