H. LaForge, Genève,No.16086, made by Ernest Guinand, Le Locle, No. 26405, for the Spanish market, circa 1870. Extremely fine 18 ct. gold hunting-cased keyless pocket chronometer with one minute tourbillon regulator.

C. Five body, massive, "bassine et filets" entirely engraved with wreath acorn foliage and blank cartouche, engraved bezel. Gold cuvette. D. Silver, plume pattern with applied gilt floral decoration, Roman mimerais, sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued-steel "Romaines doubles" hands. M. 19? glazed nickeled with "fausses côtes" decoration, 15 jewels, pivoted detent escapement with gold 'scape wheel, two armed cut bimetallic balance with gold poising screws, blued steel balance spring with terminal curve and arc limiting pin. Ernest Guinand first type polished steel tourbillon carriage, driven by the minute wheel. In very good condition. Diam. 54 mm.

This watch is recorded in R.Meis,Das Tourbillon, p.349. Tourbillon No. 26404, the number previous to the present example, is recorded as being by Guinand, and tested at Neuchâtel in 1873 (see Meis, p. 347)
