Notes

This watch is described and illustrated in Meis: Dus Tourbillon, p. 126, fig. 89/94. It is the earliest recorded tourbillon by Guinand and Girard Perregaux, and also one of only two known with independent seconds. The quality of workmanship is exceptional throughout, particularly for the carriage which is signed by Guinand under the lower arm (Guinand's signature also appears on the front plate). The watch was tested at Neuchâtel in 1867 and the results achieved were remarkable, with an average daily variation of only 0.15seconds.The cuvette is engraved: "Exposition Universelle Paris, 1867".
