Revel A Paris, N. 2355, and Urban Jurgensen, circa 1800. Very rare 20 ct. gold dumb quarter-repeating watch with spécial escapement.

C. Three body, "Empire", with reeded band, the back engine-turned with initial PH. (Paris mark 1798 - 1809) Hinged gilt cuvette. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals and outer minute ring. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. Gilt brass, Lepine caliber with free standing barrel, 6 jewels, double wheel duplex escapement with brass and steel wheels, plain three arm alloy balance, flat balance spring, dumb-repeating with two hammers by depressing the pendant. Signed on the cuvette. In good condition. Diam. 48nun.

Echappement duplex par Urban Jurgensen'.
Jurgensen seems to have had a considerable success
with the double wheel duplex escapement as he
fitted it frequently to his repeating watches made in
Copenhagen. Revel worked in Paris from
approximately 1775 to an unspecified date of circa
1805. Since Jurgensen returned to Copenhagen in
1801, a likely date of 1800 would seem correct for
this watch. Jurgensen's signature appearing on the
cuvette would seem to confirm his mastery of the
