A. Nicolet, Les Ponts de Martel, Swiss, circa 1900.Fine 18K gold and enamel, hunting cased, moon-phase astronomical keyless minute repeating watch with triple calendar and chronograph.

C. Four-body, massive, ?deux filets?, both covers engine-turned and engraved in a geometrical pattern, borders with flowers separated by a black enamel stylized foliate pattern, enameled rosette in the center of the back cover, reserve on the front, gold hinged cuvette with border and center with translucent blue enamel over engine-turning. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer minute and chronograph rings with five-minute Arabic red markers, subsidiary dials for days of the month set at 12o'clock, aperture at 9 o'clock for days of the week and another at 3 o'clock for months. M. 44 mm, nickeled, 21 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued-steel Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs by a slide in the band with ?silent? centrifugal regulator. Chronograph with visible work.Signed on the dial and movement.Diam. 52 mm.

Notes

Armand Nicolet was born at Les Ponts de Martel, Canton of Neuchâtel in 1871 and died in 1944. He specialized in the production of complicated watches, working mainly for Mathey Tissot. Jean-Claude Nicolet, his grandson, is a well-known figure in La Chaux-de-Fonds, having spent all of his teaching career at the horological school there.
