?The Ship?s Stern? French. Made circa 1890. Fine and rare, gilt and patinated brass, black marble and painted, hour and half-hour striking clock with automaton.
C. In the form of a ship?s stern, a sailor at the helm rocking with the action of the pendulum, the clock set below and flanked by a further figure of a sailor. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals. Blued steel hands. M. Circular, brass, large going barrel, anchor escapement, spring suspension with Y-shaped arrangement connecting to the pendulum which animates the sailor at the helm, micrometer regulator. Dim. 29 x 31 x 22 cm.
