Leroy & Fils, London & Paris, No. 4321, made for the British Market. Circa 1880. Fine and rare gilt brass hour and half hour striking carriage clock with opaline panels.
Foliate engraved "gorge" case, the panels on four sides decorated with birds and flowers on a black ground. White chapter circle with black Roman hour chapters, red Arabic five minute numerals, with alarm, ring below. Blued steel " poires stuart" hands. Rectangular brass movement with going barrel. Frosted and silvered platform with English-type lateral lever escapement, with compensation screw balance. Strike, repeat and alarm on a gong. Signed on the dial, numbered on the movement. In very good condition. Dim. 14.7 x 15 X 9.1 cm excluding handle.
