Unusual "Mystery pendulum", timepiece mantel clock. Rhodonite base supporting a baluster turned gilt brass column terminating with a fluted finial. A right-angle pillar suspending the brass and steel "gridiron" style pendum, with midnight blue lacquered spherical "bob" mounted with gilt stars. Bevelled glass dial clamped at the top. Pierced Louis XVI style gilt hands. Silvered movement hidden within bob, with circular plates, going barrel and anchor escapement, the crutch inverted. Adjustments for positioning and regulation on the gridiron and suspension bar. In good condition. Dim. 68 cm. high.
