Vaucher, Fleurier, made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel center seconds watch with a special escapement.
Double body "Empire" case with split pearl set bezel, border, pendant and bow, the back with very fine painted champlevé enamelled flowers on a black background, simulating "cloisonné" work. Glazed cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds ring. Blued steel "croix de Malte" hands. Fine polished steel movement, Chinese caliber with a free standing barrel, duplex escapement with a steel escape wheel, a plain steel five armed balance and ruby endstone. Signed on the dial and the movement. In good condition. Diam. 53 mm.
