Piguet Meylan, Genève, made for the Chinese market, circa 1820 Very fine 20 ct. gold and enamel turquoise and pearl set quarter repeating eight day going watch.

Four body "Empire" case set overall with alternate split pearls and turquoise cabochons, the enamel back painted with a fine scene of a young shepherd in a landscape, playing the flute for two young maids. Gold cuvette with light green champlevé enamelled leaf decoration. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel serpent hands.Unusual gilt brass bar five wheel train movement with a large free standing barrel, cylinder escapement with a plain three armed brass balance. Repeating on gongs by means of the depressing pendant. Piguet Meylan master mark on the front plate below the dial and the case. In very good condition. Diam. 54 mm.
