C. Outer and inner double bodied and polished, London hallmarks. D. Turned brass, with adjustable silver Japanese numeral plaques. Polished gold arrow hands ( slightly later). M. GiIt brass full plate, square balluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, polished steel 3-arm balance with foliate pierced English cock. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 50mm.

Notes

A number of English 18th century watches found their way to Japan, and were converted locally to take a Japanese dial with adjustable hours. Both English and Japanese watch papers have survived in the back of the case.
