Timekeeper with 7 ComplicationsEdouard Serin, Paris, No. 171006, circa 1880.Fine marble and ormolu astronomical perpetual calendar clock, striking hours and half-hours with signs of the Zodiac, moon phases, animated Earth globe and World Time indication.
C. Black marble, molded base and cornice, dial in the upper part, lower part with calendar, both with ormolu cast bezels, globe mounted on the top within gilt brass rings calibrated for latitude and longitude with time zones. D. White enamel ring, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, indented center set with the escapement. Blued steel "fleur-de-lis" hands. Below, calendar dial with month ring with symbols for corresponding Zodiac signs with blued steel "pointer" hand with applied goldsunburst, subsidiary silvered date and days of the week, aperture for the phases of the moon. M. Circular, brass, going barrels, Brocot escapement set on the dial, striking on a large gong mounted independently on a rod fixed to the case, globe driven directly from the going train. Independently-mounted perpetual calendar mechanism set below.Movement and calendar plates stamped with maker's trade mark ES with a bell in between.Dim. Height 50 cm (with globe), width 30 cm.
