?La Comédie? J. Oltramare, Geneva. Made circa 1825, the enamel attributed to Jean Abraham Lissignol (1749-1819). Very fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel table snuff box.
C. Two-body, the top panel very finely painted with an allegory of Comedy depicting a young woman holding a mask in her hand, others lying at her feet, behind, a violet drapery behind which two children are playing, royal blue enamel border, gold frame chased with foliage and shells, the bottom section in predominantly royal blue translucent enamel over elaborate engine-turning with white enamel borders, the corners with a chased leaf within a pale blue champlevé enamel border, the base with dark blue translucent enamel over elaborate engine-turning, black and pale blue champlevé enamel scroll and flower border with chased shell ground.
