"The Valley of Chamonix" Geneva, No. 1013, goldsmith's mark "M. B & M". Made circa 1820. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel, turquoise-set, musical vinaigrette. Accompanied by the original morocco fitted case and original gold and ruby-set male key.

Rectangular, four-body, the lid chased with scrolls and acanthus leaves and set with turquoises, side panels and base engine-turned, interoir of lid decorated with a painted on enamel scene of the Chamonix valley inscribed "Chamouni", hinged pierced and engraved grille for the vinaigrette compartment. M. Rectangular, 30 x 23 mm, miniature sur plateau pinned disc with 17 teeth set on one side, pinion governor in eccentric socket for tempo adjustment. Compartment punched with partially legible maker?s mark "M.B & M" Dim. 32 x 25 mm. Property of a European Collector
