?Grande & Petite Sonnerie Clockwatch? Charles Frodsham, 27 South Molton Street, London, By Appointment to The King, No. 010352, Ad. Fmsz, supplied by Nicole Nielsen & Co. The case with London hallmarks for 1900-1901. Very fine and extremely rare, large, trip minute-repeating, 18K yellow gold, keyless, half-hunting cased, two-train pocket watch with grande and petite sonnerie striking.
C. Four-body, massive, "pomme et filets", by Emile Nielsen (master mark), polished, spring loaded front cover with royal blue radial Roman numerals and inner minute track, the back cover engraved with a Baron?s coronet and crest, protected hand-setting button, thief-proof swivel bow. Hinged gold cuvette. D. Solid silver, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 45 mm, (20???), frosted gilt, 3/4-plate, two-train with Nicole Nielsen tandem winding, jewelled to the center with screwed gold chatons, lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature adjustment screws, double-over-coiled blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator, striking on gongs and repeating activated by a trip-slide on the band. Dial and movement signed, case punched with Emile Nielsen?s master mark. Diam. 56 mm.
