Integral to the case, frosted and translucent opalescent glass chapter ring with radial Arabic numerals and dot minute markers. Blued steel "épée" hands. The French ocean liner ?Le Normandie? made her maiden voyage on May 29, 1935. At the time, she was the largest and fastest ship in the world, and she maintains the distinction of being the most powerful steam turbo-electric propelled passenger ship ever built. The luxurious interiors of Normandie were marvels of Art Déco and the Streamline Moderne style. The present clock is a model that was sold on board the ?Normandie?. Its glass case, in the manner of Lalique, is thought to have been made by Sabino.
