?Cybele? Etienne Gevray, probably Geneva, No. 2092. Made circa 1760, probably for the English market. Very fine, quarter-repeating on a bell and à tact, 20K gold, repoussé pair-cased pocket watch.

C. Outer: two-body, repoussé, depicting Cybele receiving grapes from a putto in an asymmetrical rococo cartouche pierced foliate outer border, bezel decorated to match. Inner: two-body, "bassine", band pierced and engraved with a pattern, grotesque mask at the front. Gilt-brass dust cap. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, five-minute Arabic numerals. Gold "Louis XV" hands. M. 33 mm, hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved single-footed cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on bell activated by depressing the pendant.
