"Musical and Quarter-Repeating" J(ac)ques Oltramare, (Geneva), No. 8135. Made circa 1820. Fine and rare, 18K gold, musical, quarter-repeating pocket watch playing music on the hour or at will.
C. Four-body, "Empire", polished bezels, reeded band, engine-turned back with vacant central cartouche, bolt at 1 o'clock to activate the music, bolt at 3 o'clock for music/silent. Hinged gilt metal cuvette. D. Gold, applied radial Roman numerals on an engine-turned chapter ring, outer dot minute divisions, acanthus and flower engraved decoration in the center. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. M. 48 mm., 21''', gilt brass, going barrels, cylinder escapement, three-arm plain brass balance with flat balance spring, polished endplate, index regulator, sur plateau musical movement with 20 blued steel vibrating teeth playing on both sides of the disc, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Cuvette signed, movement punched with a four-leaf clover mark. Diam. 58 mm.
