?Three Hammer Carillon? Cézar Racine, Le Locle, No. 2298. Made circa 1900. Very fine and rare 18K gold hunting-cased, keyless, double train, Grande Sonnerie carillon clockwatch with trip minute repeat and unusual micrometer regulator.

C. Four body, massive, "bassine", polished, hinged gold cuvette cover. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring, subsidiary seconds. Gold "spade" hands. M. 46 mm. (21'''), frosted and gilt, double train, 32 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Rosat micrometer regulator, Breguet balance spring, striking and repeating on three gongs with three hammers, Strike/Silence optional lever on the bezel border. Repeating on gongs with push piece in the band. Movement stamped with patent numbers, CH16112 and CH18543 both granted to Cézar Racine for his Grande Sonnerie system; CH21689 granted to Charles Rosat for his micrometer regulator; and CH15833 granted to Ditisheim & Cie for the repeat governor. Diam. 55 mm.

Clockwatches with carillons are rare. On February 6, 1899, Cézar Racine filed for a patent improving Grande Sonnerie watches. It was quite successful and a number of companies took advantage of it.
