Robert & Peter Higgs, London, 7 Sweeting's Alley, No. 3145, circa 1770.Fine and rare gilt silver pair-cased quarter-repeating watch striking on a bell or à tact with alarm.
C. Outer: two-body, pierced and engraved with foliate pattern, back engraved with a bouquet of flowers. Inner: two-body, "bassine" with deep back, band pierced and engraved in matching foliate pattern with two vignettes, one with a mask, the other with a rural landscape, the back engraved with a stylized flower and an exotic bird, gilt brass dust cap. D. White enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic markers, alarm dial setting aperture at 6 o'clock. Blued steel "beetlend poker" hands, center with alarm setting dial with Arabic chapter. M. 37,7 mm, gilt full plate with turned column pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel balance with flat balance-spring, single-footed cock pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and with a mask, diamond endstone, alarm driven by a fixed barrel, repeating on bell by depressing the pendant, alarm striking on the same bell.Signed on the dial, movement and dust cap, case stamped T.C.Diam. 58 mm.
