Peter Garon, London, No. 897, circa 1720.Very fine and rare silver pair-cased epicycloidal "wandering hour" watch.
C. Outer: two-body, repoussé back with fluted pattern and small central rosette, the bezels repoussé with a repeated pattern. Inner: two-body, "bassine", polished, later pendant. D. Silver, Arabic numeral minutes set in the top semicircle, below, the Roman hour chapters travel along the radial aperture, indicating the minutes, lower border of the aperture engraved with the quarter-hours. Below, engraved British coat-of-arms on matte background. M. 40 mm, gilt full plate with tulip pillars, fuseand chain, verge escapement, plain steel balance with flat balance-spring, single-footed cock with streamers and straight foot, worm and pinion set-up.Signed on the movement.Diam. 55 mm.
