Baltasar Martinot à Paris, circa 1690.Fine and important silver pair-cased, quarter-repeating "oignon" watch.
C. Outer: double-body, leather covered with silver pinned rosette in the center. Inner: "bassine" form with split bezel and loose ring pendant, the band pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. M. 46,2 mm, hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, short flat balance-spring, rack and pinion regulator with smll silver disc, gilt brass Louis XIV cock pierced and engraved with birds and foliage. Quarter repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant.Signed on the back plate.Diam. 64 mm.
