Henri Robert à Paris, No. 2161, circa 1830.Very fine and interesting 18K gold quarter-repeating watch.

C. Four-body, "forme quatre baguettes", polished, hinged gold cuvette engraved with technical details. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds at 12 o'clock, secret inscription "Laroyenne" above 6 o'clock. Gold "spade" hands. M. Gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, the back plate relieved for the barrel, fusee with chain and maintaining power, 25 jewels, lateral lever escapement with divided lifts and jeweled pallets, oil-retention slots in the steel escape whel, plain three-arm balance, flat balance-spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the index. Quarter-repeating on gongs with pull-twist piston through the pendant.Signed on the cuvette, pendant stamped with the French guarantee mark used between 1821 and 1838.Diam. 61 mm.

This watch is published in the Ruscitti book, as no. 50.Henri Robert (1795-1874)was inspired both by Breguet and Perrelet. He became a very eminent maker and author on horological subjects. In 1847 Robert was named Watchmaker to the Navy.
