Courvoisier Frères, No. 3224, circa 1870.Very fine and unusual 18K gold and ena-mel, pearl-set, quarter-repeating, eight day-going watch, built on an 1820's four-body Geneva case, made for the Chinese market.

C. "Empire", the back enamel panel finely painted with a scene of a shepherd playing the flute for two young ladies, inspired by the painting "Evening" by William Hamilton R.A. (1751 - 1801), the band decorated with blue champlevé enamel, the bezels, pendant and bow set with split pearls, hinged gold cuvette with blue champlevé enameled decoration over a matte ground and white champlevé enameled technical details: Montre 8 Jours - Ancre- 32 Pierres en rubis. D. White enamel with Roman numeralsand sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "fleur de lis" hands. M. 17 1/2''', gilt brass, bar caliber with going barrel, 32 jewels, five-wheel train, Swiss straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance-spring. Quarter-repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant.Signed on the cuvette.Diam. 55 mm.
