"Vanguard" Waltham, Massachusetts, No. 12010586, case No. 5151683, ?Model 1892 - Vanguard?- Grade. Made for L. J. Krivokapitch circa 1903. Very fine and unusual, hunting-cased, keyless, 14K yellow gold and enamel pocket watch with elaborately decorated case.

Four-body, solid, "bassine", by "Keystone", hinged covers, the front with applied gold Russian eagle and red/white-enameled monogrammed shield, the back with applied gold star motif, hinged gold cuvette with engraved portrait of a mustachioed gentleman and Cyrillic inscription, covers and cuvette inside adorned with photographic reproductions of a gentleman and his family. D. Double-sunk off-white enamel with central photographic portraits, large painted Arabic numerals, outer minute ring with red 5-minute Arabic markers, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 18 size, nickel, full plate, damascened, 23 jewels, the top ones in screwed raised gold settings, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, adjusted, blued steel Breguet balance spring, Ohlson patented (No. 894,457) micrometer regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 54 mm.
